Ao longo da costa sul da extensão cintilante do Lago de Garda ficam as cidades de Desenzano, Peschiera e Sirmione, que há décadas recebem hordas de turistas e estabelecimentos que os atendem: hotéis, bares, pizzarias e sushi à vontade emporia.
E por alguns quilômetros ao sul estão os vinhedos, 11 km de oeste a leste, não considerados de grande interesse até cerca de 20 ou 30 anos atrás.

O melhor deles estava dentro do Lugana DOC, que lutava para ser reconhecido, especialmente devido às vastas plantações de Soave não muito longe.

Além disso, a uva principal era a Trebbiano, embora não fosse parente da mal vista Trebbiano da Toscana. Era chamado de Trebbiano di Soave ou Trebbiano di Lugana, até que a magia do marketing o transformou em 'Turbiana'. Agora Lugana tinha sua própria identidade. Também se beneficia de uma conexão genética - uma espécie de prima - com a conceituada uva Verdicchio, da região de Marche.
